JUVÉDERM®, Restylane® & RHA® Collection
Restore Lost Volume and Soften Lines Instantly
You catch your reflection on a video call or in a dressing room mirror, and something feels off. Not dramatic — just a quiet shift. Your cheeks have softened. The lines framing your mouth look deeper than you remember. Your under-eye area looks hollow even after a full night’s sleep. That disconnect between how you feel and what you see is one of the most common things we hear at REFRESH LKN. Dermal fillers — specifically hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers — are designed to address exactly this. They restore lost volume, smooth lines, and bring back the facial balance that time gradually takes away. Because HA is a substance your body already produces, the result integrates with your own tissue and looks natural rather than placed.
At our Cornelius medical spa, we carry three of the most respected HA filler families: JUVÉDERM®, Restylane®, and the RHA® Collection. Each family has its own strengths, and the right product for any given area depends on the gel’s texture, density, and how it behaves in tissue that moves. Every injection is personally administered by our board-certified nurse practitioner — never delegated. Below, we’ll walk you through what makes each family distinct so you’ll know what questions to ask at your consultation.
JUVÉDERM® Dermal Fillers
JUVÉDERM® is one of the most established and clinically studied HA filler families in cosmetic medicine, manufactured by Allergan — the same company behind BOTOX®. The collection is engineered with two proprietary technologies, Vycross® and Hylacross®, which create different gel viscosities for different facial zones. Each formulation in the line is purpose-built for a specific job: thicker, more lifting gels for cheek volume; softer, more flexible gels for lips and fine lines.
The standout product in the JUVÉDERM® family is JUVÉDERM® Voluma XC, designed for cheek augmentation and midface contouring. Voluma can last up to two years — significantly longer than most HA fillers — which makes it the go-to choice when we’re rebuilding the structural foundation of the face. Other formulations in the family include Volbella for lips and fine lines, Vollure for nasolabial folds, and Volux for jawline definition. JUVÉDERM® also participates in the Allē rewards program, which earns clients points toward future treatments at every visit. Learn more about JUVÉDERM® at REFRESH LKN.
Restylane® Dermal Fillers
Restylane® is one of the longest-standing HA filler families on the market and has one of the most extensive safety track records in aesthetics. Like JUVÉDERM®, it’s a collection rather than a single product — and the differences between formulations come down to gel texture and how the filler integrates with tissue. Each Restylane® product is engineered with a different consistency: thicker gels lift and contour, softer gels flow and move with expression.
The Restylane® family includes Restylane® Kysse (designed specifically for lips, with a soft, flexible gel that moves naturally when you talk and smile), Restylane® Defyne (formulated for nasolabial folds and smile lines that need to integrate into highly mobile tissue), Restylane® Lyft and Restylane® Contour (denser gels for cheek augmentation and midface volume), and Restylane®-L (the original all-purpose formulation). Restylane® is also one of the products we reach for most often in delicate areas like the under-eye tear trough, where its predictable behavior in thin skin matters. Results typically last 6 to 18 months depending on the product and area treated. Learn more about Restylane® at REFRESH LKN.
RHA® Collection Dermal Fillers
The RHA® Collection is the newest and most distinct of the three families. RHA stands for Resilient Hyaluronic Acid, and these are the first and only FDA-approved HA fillers designed specifically for *dynamic* wrinkles and folds — the lines that appear and deepen when you move your face. Manufactured by Teoxane using a proprietary process called Preserved Network Technology (PNT), RHA® gels more closely resemble the natural hyaluronic acid already in your skin, and they’re engineered to stretch and adapt during facial movement rather than sitting stiffly under the surface.
The U.S. lineup includes four formulations: RHA® 2 (for moderate dynamic wrinkles, often used around the lips and mouth), RHA® 3 (for moderate to severe folds around the nose and mouth), RHA® 4 (the most robust, for deeper folds and midface volume), and RHA® Redensity (a lighter formulation designed for fine perioral lines, including those vertical “lipstick lines” above the lip). What makes RHA® particularly compelling is duration: clinical studies show results lasting up to 15 months in dynamic areas — meaningfully longer than most HA fillers in zones that move constantly. If your concern is lines that show up when you smile, talk, or laugh, and you want a filler that won’t look stiff when your face is animated, RHA® is worth a serious conversation.
How to Choose the Right Filler for Your Goals
Here’s the honest answer most medical spas won’t give you directly: all three families are excellent. The differences are in gel technology, behavior in motion, duration, and how each formulation performs in specific areas of the face. The skill and judgment of the person injecting you matters more than the brand on the syringe — but the brand and product still matter, because the right filter for cheek volume isn’t the right filler for lips or tear troughs.
If you want long-lasting cheek volume with the most established lifting product on the market, JUVÉDERM® Voluma is hard to beat. If you want soft, flexible lip enhancement or proven results in the under-eye area, Restylane® Kysse and the Restylane® family deliver consistently. And if your concern is dynamic lines that show up when you move your face — and you want a filler engineered specifically to flex with your expressions rather than against them — the RHA® Collection is the most advanced option available. Most of our clients end up using products from more than one family over time, because different areas call for different tools.
What to Expect at Your Appointment
Most filler appointments take 15 to 45 minutes depending on how many areas we’re treating. We apply a topical numbing cream before we begin, and every product in all three families contains lidocaine built right into the gel — so comfort is addressed from both sides. Most clients describe the sensation as pressure rather than pain. You’ll see results immediately, though final settling takes one to two weeks as any mild swelling resolves.
Downtime is minimal. Some swelling, tenderness, or bruising is normal — especially in the lips and under-eye area — and resolves within a few days. We ask that you skip intense exercise for 24 to 48 hours, avoid excessive heat (saunas, prolonged sun exposure), and follow the aftercare instructions we’ll send home with you. Most clients head right back to their normal routine the same day. One important safety advantage of all three filler families: because they’re all hyaluronic acid based, they can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase if a correction is ever needed. That reversibility is a real safety net that non-HA fillers simply don’t offer.
Why Clients Choose REFRESH LKN
Our board-certified nurse practitioner personally performs every filler injection — your face is never handed off to rotating staff with less training. She brings advanced clinical training, a deep understanding of vascular anatomy, and the artistic eye for facial balance that separates a beautiful result from a disappointing one. As Lake Norman’s only medical spa combining advanced lasers, hormone wellness, personalized weight loss, and injectables under one roof, we look at the whole picture. Sometimes filler is the answer. Sometimes pairing it with BOTOX®, a laser treatment, or skin resurfacing creates a result that filler alone can’t achieve. We dose conservatively, place precisely, and always prioritize results that look like you — never overdone, never frozen.
Schedule Your Consultation
